Raise your cup of coffee or glass of wine because it’s DIY Friday, cheers! I’ve been a bridesmaid a handful of times and from those experiences I know that it’s not an easy job… even when you adore the bride-to-be. So today’s project is for the brides-tribe, the main-gals, the bridesmaids and the maid of honor; because gosh darn it they deserve something nice. In this tutorial I’m going to show you how to make the most adorable DIY Mini-Crate + Mini-Wine Bottle Gifts you have ever seen. If you’re thinking that you might have seen bottles like this before, you are right on… my Mini-Wine Bottle Favors have been such a crazy internet hit that I decided to revamp them for this project. Since I don’t know what stage of planning you are in and I don’t know what events you are having, I’ve designed six different funny labels that you can mix and match to create the perfect gifts. Each bottle is meant to be a little present for “dealing” with that days event; ie. This Bottle Is For My Bridal Shower, or This Bottle Is For The Day After My Wedding. Not saying that your wedding is going to drive your friends to drink, but a little relaxation never hurt anyone. These creative mini-crates make it easy to treat your besties to a personalized handmade gift that will give them a little chuckle!
Tags For All
I’ve included 3 tags; one for a bridesmaid, maid of honor or matron of honor. They are all on the same sheet so it’s super easy!
Choose Your Favorite Labels
From celebrating your engagement party, to your bridal shower, your bachelorette party, getting ready the morning of your wedding, the day after your wedding and even just the rare Bridezilla occasion – I’ve got an event + label to fit all!
SUPPLIES:
- Mini-crates (got mine on Amazon )
- Shutter Home Mini-Wine Bottles
- 8.5″ x 11″ Label Sheet
- Cricut Explore or Exacto Knife
- Pretty Colored Cardstock
- Crinkle Shred
- Hot Glue Gun
- Ribbon
- Scissors
- Spray paint, washi tape, glitter, etc. (optional)
Print + Cut Your Labels
Grab my free label download at the end of the post and print it onto 8.5″ x 11″ label sheet or sticker paper. Then cut out your desired labels.
CRAFTERS TIP // Label Sheet aka. Sticker Paper is the BEST. It’s an entire sheet of sticker that allows you to turn anything you’ve printed onto it – a sticker! No more worrying about buying the “right” label.
Labels + Bottles
My labels are designed specifically to fit right on top of the existing Sutter Home Label, but not to cover up the varietal! Peel off the sticker backing and add to each bottle.
HOW TO MAKE THESE BOWS:
These bow designs are from the amazingly talented, paper-queen Lia Griffith . She offers this design as a free download that you can then upload to Cricut’s Design Space and cut with your Cricut Explore . She also has a print and cut file, so if you don’t have a Cricut, you can print out her file and trace them onto any color of paper you please, to then cut out my hand with an Exacto knife. Use hot glue to assemble the bows.
I used the bow that was second to the smallest size; unfolded it’s 4 3/8″ wide.
For the band that wraps around the wine bottle neck I cut a rectangle at 1/2″ x 3 1/4″.
Embellish Your Crate
There are so many different things you can do to embellish these little wood crates it’s ridiculous. For this version, I just painted the crate white.
Make Your Gift Tag
Using your gift tag label, remove the backing and place it onto a piece of colored cardstock, then cut around it and hole punch. Maybe write a sweet message for the recipient on the backside…
Washi-Tape Embellishment
For this version all I did was add 1″ washi tape across the front of the crate – so cute right? This 1″ Blue & White Damask tape from Little B, not only fits perfectly on the crate but looks perfect with these wine colors!
Glitter Embellishment
This crate was first sprayed with gold paint and then glittered! I simply painted Mod Podge onto the front and then sprinkled on the glitter. So that your crate doesn’t shed glitter everywhere it goes, after your glitter layer is dry, add another layer of Mod Podge over the glitter to seal.
