We’re Moving!!!

Hello there fabulous ST reader… I’m so glad you’ve made it here today as I have an awesome announcement!!! After living in a quaint little 1 bedroom apartment for 8 years, working our tails off and putting everything we have into our businesses – me and the hubs are finally moving on up! Our new place is only about 15 minutes down the road, but a very important 15 minutes as it makes us just steps from the sand and if you lean off our new deck a little, you can see a sliver of the ocean! That’s my heaven on earth. But wait, there’s more! (said like an infomercial). We each get our own office, and the deal is we get to do/build/design whatever we want in our own space. We are both visual, creative people that thrive off our environment so this is going to make our daily work life so much more inspiring. So I emailed my gals over at Martha Stewart , and told them about my dream craft room + blog office ideas and they offered to help me build it!!! EEEeeeee…. – squealing like a high schooler over One Direction. Every time I think about it my stomach gets butterflies!

We’re Moving!!!

—> Killer “moving card” designed by the talented Diva Gone Domestic .

As I type I’m surrounded by boxes and memories that are getting packed and moved to a new place that is filled with excitement and unparalleled opportunity for both of us – and it’s all very surreal. Can this be my real life? This is my ultimate dream coming true before my very eyes and it’s so hard to fully comprehend. You work, dream, build, cry, work, dream and work some more and I guess all I can say is that when you truly follow your heart, amazing things can happen. My dreams are what get me out of bed in the morning so for me the hardest part about having a dream come true is that I need to have another one waiting to take it’s place, and honestly I’m plum tapped out. My heart is overflowing with gratitude and joy for being able to write this blog and share my creative spirit with you everyday. I’m beyond blessed and you are major part of that blessing, so thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me this pleasure.

I’ve got great stuff in store to include you in on my celebration and I can’t wait to share! To stay sane I’m taking a week off from blogging to settle in, unpack and get my toes in that sand. We’ll be back to our regular posting schedule on Monday, March 9th and from now on check out my Instagram for small little updates on how my special room is coming together! Xoxo, Jen

Old Town Engaged | Cynthia Shipp

Captured by Cynthia Shipp , we could think of no one better to share a bit about Fatima and Jon’s engagement session,

“It was late in the evening this past october that I had the pleasure of meeting Fatima, Jon in Old Town for their incredibly cute engagement session.  They have always loved the area and felt it would be the perfect backdrop for their images and I couldn’t be more excited to hear that as I’ve always loved the area myself.  It turned out to be a perfect day with beautiful weather!”

DIY | Address Book – Guest Book

One of my absolute favorite wedding details to get creative with is the guest book. You only have to make one, so it’s not a huge task and all your guests get to interact with it – which means it’s a small detail that will make a large impact. I’ve shared many ideas on creating unique ways to commemorate all the guests that attended your wedding, but I’m totally crazy about this one. I’m BIG into sending cards and snail mail of all kinds, so having the correct addresses and info for all of my most favorite people is very important to me. If that sounds like you then you might want to consider creating this awesome Address Book – Guest Book for your wedding! Since gathering this type of information can be daunting, why not take advantage of all your favorites being in one place and let them do the work for you. Also a great idea for a bridal shower gift or guest book!

SUPPLIES:

  • wooden “recipe” box
  • Martha Stewart Crafts paint in your favorite color
  • Martha Stewart Crafts “condensed alphabet” adhesive stencils
  • Two colors of cardstock
  • Pens and jar to hold them
  • Paint brushes
  • Scissors or Cricut Explore
  • Our FREE design downloads at the end of the post!
DIY | Address Book – Guest Book

Start by painting (or staining) your wooden box.

DIY | Address Book – Guest Book

I used MSC Metallic Gold, Summer Linen and Caribbean Blue for this project. I did two coats of each paint color.

DIY | Address Book – Guest Book

Address Cards:

While your box is drying; download, print and cut your address cards. My free design downloads are available at the end of the post. Simply print onto 8.5″ x 11″ cardstock and trim on the lines provided.

DIY | Address Book – Guest Book

They are simple and chic; perfect for any style event. Both designs have been specifically sized to use with this 6″ x 4″ recipe card box from Michaels.

Alphabet Dividers:

There are two options for this step:

  1. Download our pattern design below. Print onto regular 8.5″ x 11″ cardstock and cut out. Simply trace those designs onto your colored cardstock and cut them out; you’ll need 12. *There are only two because you just flip the first design.
  2. Let your Cricut Explore do all the hard work for you. That’s what I did. Search “recipe card dividers” with the Design Space Software to find these templates and more.
DIY | Address Book – Guest Book

I used Cricut files: #M471CC, #M4491B, #M45B9D – to cut these dividers. I also used the writing feature to add the alphabets to these dividers.

DIY | Address Book – Guest Book

Here is a guide to how I divided the alphabet.

DIY | Address Book – Guest Book

Using the Stencil

Mask off any painted area of your box to protect it from the stencil paint.

DIY | Address Book – Guest Book

I did the word “ADDRESSES” but you can do whatever you’d like.

CRAFTERS TIP // This stencil set doesn’t have multiple letters so you’ll need to stencil a few times. To keep the spacing correct, I like to use a random stencil (that of course I don’t paint) to hold the spot – that’s what I did here with the X.

DIY | Address Book – Guest Book

The great thing about these stencils is they are self adhesive and can be washed and used over and over.

DIY | Address Book – Guest Book

Because of the irregular surface texture of the wood box, I chose to very gently paint the stencil with a soft brush. If you pounce or press too hard paint will leak under the design.

DIY | Address Book – Guest Book

Remove each stencil right away as you don’t want paint to dry on them and to your project.

DIY | Address Book – Guest Book

I like to place them on top of the package they came in and clean them with a wet-wipe. Quick and simple, since I’ll need to use them again right away.

DIY | Address Book – Guest Book

Finish the word by adding the remaining letters.

DIY | Address Book – Guest Book

There you have it – an awesome, custom address card holder!

DIY | Address Book – Guest Book

Add your address cards and dividers into the box.

DIY | Address Book – Guest Book

Then create a darling set up for your wedding day!

DIY | Address Book – Guest Book

This cute little sign is available for download as well.

DIY | Address Book – Guest Book

Even if you are already married, this would be a fun quick project to update your files!
