Relaxed French Wedding at Chateau Lartigolle

Relaxed French Wedding at Chateau Lartigolle

Location, food, and family were top priority for Inka and Ian when planning their French wedding. Gascony was an easy choice for the couple, as Inka grew up playing and eating in the city during the summer. The pair mimicked those memories by holding their relaxed celebration at Chateau Lartigolle surrounded by delicious local food and their closest friends and family. WhiteSmoke Studio captured the absolute effortlessness of the day, from the natural and subtle green and yellow color palette to the dancing that went on into the night.

The Couple:

Inka and Ian

The Wedding:

Chateau Lartigolle , Gascony, France

The Inspiration:

We got married in Gascony, where I spent my summers growing up as a child. My biggest memory from those summers were the big long bustling lunches — great food, great company and a beautiful setting. These lunches would often end up with the music on and us all dancing around to some great music of my mums. Its this happy, care free atmosphere that we wanted to re-create at our wedding.

So, the the setting (Gascony), and the Gascogn vibe played a very important role in the wedding. A beautiful backdrop, our favourite local food and drink, relaxed vibe, with a high energy finish! The colours and styling of the wedding were taken very much from the beautiful nature and romantic setting of the Chateau. I wanted to keep everything soft, subtle and elegant. From the whites, pale greens and yellows in the flowers to the soft silk organza of my custom made dress. We also added some little touches of things that had some personal significance to us…an amazing Reggae band to play us back down the aisle, mini love potions with our favourite Rum from St. Kitts, and the silverware on the tables for the flowers were from Ian‘s parents old hotel where he grew up. It all just worked perfectly to set the romantic relaxed vibe that we hoping for.

The Moments:

So many highlights, and all for different reasons. But one of the best moments has to be the dancing at the end on the dance floor of persian rugs, under the stars. There was such a magical atmosphere in the air, everybody was so relaxed and enjoying the amazing band and the setting. Often weddings can get a bit dull towards the end, but this one kept going! At 1am it started to rain, so rather than pack it all in, everyone headed down to the secret cave downstairs ‘Club Lartigolle’ and the party kept on going…glow sticks and everything! Just perfect.

The Couple Recommends:

All of the staff at Chateau Lartigolle were absolutely fantastic and played a big role in making the weekend such a success.

Mischke the videographer was absolutely fantasic. Her video was just beautiful and really managed to capture the magic and romance on the day. We watch our video over and over again, the kids love it! We couldn’t have asked for anything more from her, a true professional with so much talent. And still so far to go!

Styled Shoot // A Snow White Fairytale

“There’s been a trend of Disney movies being released in theaters and redone for today’s world. We started thinking… if the Disney character of Snow White was a real life woman getting married in 2016, what would her style and taste be like? A bunch of wedding vendors got together and decided it would be a fun challenge to create a styled shoot that would reflect a Merlot and Gold color palette, mixed with hints of nature, wilderness, and of course, royalty. After all, Snow White does live happily ever after with a Prince! We wove in themes of fur, deep reeds, lush dark greens and played with innuendos of Snow White from deer figurines, a little cottage in the woods, apples and our bride to be needed to look just like Snow White. It would be an intimate reception in the woods, with trees all around, to celebrate the union of an ordinary girl and prince.” – Living Radiant Photography

Bride To Be Diaries: Our Traditional Brides Mega Emotions

Morning you beautiful bunch of Cwtches!
Today we have a a post from Our Traditional Bride that I think we can all relate to, the pre wedding emotions. Over to  Kath to tell us all about your Mega Emotions!

Our Traditional Bride

Bride To Be Diaries: Our Traditional Brides Mega Emotions

Mega Emotions

I’ve come across another surprise in the wedding planning process… Mega Emotion.

If I thought my monthly visit from Mother Nature made me a little emotional, my ovaries have got nothing on this wedding! I’m literally whimpering like a baby over everything.
Bride To Be Diaries: Our Traditional Brides Mega Emotions
Take this morning for example… Driving to work bleary eyed and despondent about the working day ahead, and a bit of Adele comes on. Now Adele is amazing, don’t get me wrong, but I have none of her albums and her songs are not featuring in my wedding (OUR wedding… I need to get used to that with just 5 weeks to go!!) and yet there I was, hello-ing from the other side, with tears streaming down my face as I sit stationery at the roadworks imagining Rich and I behind a flattering black and white filter, reaching out for each other across a windy moore… What’s the deal with that?
Had my first official dress fitting last week, it was perfect… Not an alteration or tweak in sight (or budget!) thank god! My friend whatsapp’d me a photo of me in my gown… and when I get home, I spent a full 10 minutes sniffling into my pillow as I admire how lovely I look and accept the fact that my wedding day is probably the most beautiful I have ever, or will ever look!
Bride To Be Diaries: Our Traditional Brides Mega Emotions
And then there’s the tv programmes… Don’t Tell The Bride… BLUB. Say Yes To The Dress… snot everywhere. And it’s not just the wedding programmes, hell, I’ll have a good sob at Made In Chelsea when they do that awkward staring thing.
And don’t get me started on the First Dances. I’m having a daddy-daughter dance (lump in throat as I’m writing this!) before he hands me to my husband for our official first dance (sob) and when my mum told me my dad had been scouring YouTube to find the perfect song for us, and proceeded to play his choice to me, well…. I had a good cry into my pasta bake, and my dad (who is a tall, strong, classic Welsh Patriach) had to walk out in to the kitchen to dab his eyes. Which then set my Liverpudlian Mumatron off.
Seriously? What kind of sorcery is this?
Bride To Be Diaries: Our Traditional Brides Mega Emotions
It’s a wedding, the best day of my life (sorry, OUR life) so why on earth is everybody crying!?
This is crazy!! I can actually THINK myself to tears right now. In fact I just did a little bit!! Sat here glancing over at The Manfriend, and looking at his cute frowny face and little eyelashes and sexy stubble and knowing he’s mine forever more…. aaaaand I’m gone.
Bride To Be Diaries: Our Traditional Brides Mega Emotions
I mean, on an actual organisational note, I’m nearly there. In fact, I’m more than there. I have nothing to cry about. My spreadsheets are bursting at the seams, my vendors are all messaged and up to date, my planner from the Oxwich Bay, the lovely Jess, is putting up with my midnight emails and constant harassing with the patience of a saint, and I’ve actually had numerous thoughts about quitting the 9-5 and jumping headfirst into becoming a full time wedding co-ordinator, because believe me when I say, I’ve GOT this shizzle in the bag!
I’m off to bed now, because that last 2 minutes of Dan and Kate having a heart to heart on TOWIE has just finished me off!xxx

Dordogne Countryside Chateau Wedding

Dordogne Countryside Chateau Wedding

Welcome to November lovelies, we are beginning this month with a sophisticated Dordogne countryside Chateau wedding that’s just glamorous from start to finish.

This sophisticated affair was planned by talented wedding planners Marry Me in France and included a beautiful wedding gown inspired by Princess Kate’s wedding dresses, sounds perfect doesn’t it?! Their guests were even entertained by the amazing band Brightlights who we met and had the pleasure of listening to earlier this year in sunny Provence, we completely understand why the dancefloor was full all evening.

Lauren Michelle Photography captured the ‘golden hour’ wonderfully, some of our favourite images from Lydia and Thomas’s day are their timeless couple shots while the sun sets, just stunning…Dordogne Countryside Chateau Wedding

“We both knew from the start that we wanted to have a small wedding so we could spend time with all the guests and not feel overwhelmed on the day. Having briefly looked at the options in London and Hertfordshire we decided we wouldn’t be able to achieve our dream wedding in the UK. We turned to Google and quickly found photos of the most beautiful chateau in France and knew it was the one. We contacted the planners and booked without even having visited and luckily our rash decision making paid off!”

“I had always known I wanted a lace sleeved dress and after trying on what felt like hundreds and not finding ‘the one’ I eventually bought a very simple strapless ball gown.” Dordogne Countryside Chateau Wedding Dordogne Countryside Chateau Wedding

“The wonderful Emma of Emma Louise Bridal turned it in to my dream dress and instantly knew exactly what I wanted. I also had a more practical Pronovias sheath dress from Teokath for all the dancing in the evening.” Dordogne Countryside Chateau Wedding

“The dress and the chateau dictated the feel of the day which was traditional but fun and relaxed. Our planner Lou from Marry Me in France , and our on the day coordinator Sue (also from MMIF) put us in touch with all our local suppliers and made sure everything was where it should have been on the day.” Dordogne Countryside Chateau Wedding Dordogne Countryside Chateau Wedding

“Our favourite part of the day by far was the ceremony. The tiny chapel in the grounds of the chateau had been filled with candles by the lighting company and with the glow of the candles and all our closest friends and family crammed in it felt very intimate and romantic.” Dordogne Countryside Chateau Wedding

“They also provided lots of helpful props which would have been difficult for us to get to France ourselves, such as a frame for the photo booth, and vases for our centerpieces which poor Lou traipsed all over the place to get.” Dordogne Countryside Chateau Wedding

“Having the wedding in France meant we were able to keep the wine flowing all day and had amazing food. We bought all our wine and fizz from a local supplier who we spent a great afternoon wine tasting with. They helped us pick the perfect wines to go with our menu choices and made sure we had the right quantities.”

“ Lauren Michelle our photographer captured the day perfectly, it all goes by so fast and she worked tirelessly ensuring we had every aspect of the day recorded.” Dordogne Countryside Chateau Wedding Dordogne Countryside Chateau Wedding

“Choosing our band was one of the best decisions we made as they were a big hit with the guests and kept everyone dancing until the small hours of the morning. We had been worried about asking people to travel over to France but everyone has said they had a fantastic time and we are so grateful they made the effort to be there with us as it meant a lot to have everyone together.” Dordogne Countryside Chateau Wedding
