Engagement | Danny + Scarlet

“These two met though friends who set them up on a blind date! Pretty funny, how often do blind dates work out? Scarlett and Danny recently moved to Texas and have been missing the oak trees of California. So when they were planning their engagement session with me, they wanted to incorporate their love for spending time in nature and wanted to embrace the winter season. Our winter season isn’t super colorful… everything turns brown instead of bright colors so they wanted to bring some bright colors into the session through their props, attire and blanket to really contrast against the backgrounds. Scarlett DIY-ed the bouquet with flowers from the LA flower market and I wrote out “Better Together” on the chalkboard because it is from one of their favorite Jack Johnson songs! We also spelled out “Lub You” in Scrabble tiles because it was something that they started to say to one another as an inside joke and it stuck! Just a few things that makes this sweet couple unique!” – Peterson Design & Photography

How did you find your photographer?

After days of research, I found a website called Thumbtack. Through this online website, Marisa of Peterson Design & Photography and I were able to make contact.

What are you DIY-ing for your wedding?

I’m making the reception signs, backdrop (poem), and reception book for the wedding. My friends are helping me organize components of the wedding as well. I have so many ideas that I wanted to include on my big day, but it’s hard to get stuff done when you live in another state. Most of the wedding planning will also be done by me, does that count? lol.

What are you looking forward to the most?

Seeing my family and friends! We moved to Texas and we really miss our family and friends while transitioning out of the California lifestyle (mountains, beaches, weather…sigh). So seeing our family and friends, naturally, will make our wedding day complete. I have a close connection with the location of my venue, The Ebell Club of Long Beach; it’s located right where I grew up and lived almost my entire life. So I’m going to feel like I’m in my backyard, I can’t wait!
