Other cool stuff we should know about: We had been together for nine years and after getting engaged we managed to get down the aisle in six months. We didn’t want a long engagement and we knew we didn’t want a very traditional wedding. We had no best man or bridesmaids, no colour theme, no formal line up—we just wanted a fun day to celebrate with all our friends and family. We chose the Glasshouse Hotel for their amazing roof garden with stunning views over the city that’s been our home for fifteen years. The ever dependable Scottish weather gave us the most atmospheric misty day which Lauren captured beautifully in our photos. We had a Humanist ceremony which our wonderful Celebrant, Tim, made us write ourselves and which surpassed all our expectations. Everyone commented that the whole day was very “us” which is all we wanted. We had the most amazing day full of fun and laughter, we’ll never forget it.
Favourite thing about the wedding: Having all our family and friends, from all stages of our lives, there to celebrate with us. And the very sweaty Northern Soul Dance Party at the end of the night. Oh, and the baby in a kilt—every wedding should have one!
