Purple Wedding in Prince Rupert

Today is all about fifty shades of purple!

This classic styled purple wedding theme in the beautiful Prince Rupert is a real dream come true. The bold color choice allow for the hues to pop in almost everywhere you look, from the florals to the personalized wine bottles. We’re also loving the ocean views this location has to offer and these photographs taken by the ever-talented Stefania Bowler Photography really capture the charm of Lia and Alan’s big day.

From the Photographer…

The lovely couple chose to work with silver and shades of plum and purple colors which can be seen throughout the bridal party’s attire, bouquets, and decor. Lia wore a beautiful ball gown accented with a floral design and jewels paired with cute purple flats, the groom was in a grey suit with dark purple accents. The groom’s wedding ring is a unique Damascus steel band, and fit his style perfectly.

The Bride’s sister helped construct all the reception decor, which is completely DIY. The tables were covered with white linens and purple runners. The center pieces consisted of tall vases filled with large diamond shaped ornaments and lined with purple ribbon and crystal like gems. It was then topped with a purple paper pompom and the same crystal like gems for some added sparkle. These gems can also be seen around the handmade napkin holders and in the center of purple flowers on the tables to tie it all together.

There are many traditions in the Italian culture when a daughter gets married. One in particular being the ribbon cutting, which takes place at the front door of the family home before the bride heads off to the church. The parents of the bride hold a ribbon which is then cut by the bride. The cut ribbon represents the parents giving the bride away and good luck as she leaves the family home.

The ceremony was held in the Catholic Church, surrounded by family and friends near and far and there wasn’t a dry eye to be seen (including mine lol) as the couple recited their own written vows to one another. Relatives surprised the couple with thrown rice and bubbles as they exited the church, another tradition that could not be overlooked.

You will quickly see the humor this couple shares with their bridal party when you look through their portraits. This lovely group of people made it so easy to do my job, even with the unpredictable weather changes that Prince Rupert is known for it didn’t stop us from having fun. We were so thrilled the weather changed from rain, to clouds, to full out sunshine. We started at the waterfront, where the bridal party was daring and ready to do anything I asked which included jumping off a wall that borders the waterfront, and a bridesmaid face off. Later we were off to the historic courthouse building which is in the center of Prince Rupert, a popular spot for portraits.
