In the digital era, artists are exploring new distribution methods to get their music out to fans. Some of these include streaming and Bandcamp , though another option is via the peer-to-peer downloading of BitTorrent. Big Gigantic are one such act to explore this less conventional option, having just dropped their new album for free, along with a premium bundle.
“We’re incredibly excited to announce the release of our brand-new album, Brighter Future,” the band said in a statement. “The album is a collection of songs and collaborations that we've been working on over the last couple of years that celebrates the life and times of people everywhere who fight to create a Brighter Future for themselves and the world around them.”
The full record has indeed been released for free via BitTorrent, and all you’ll need is an appropriate client to download the files. There’s also the option of downloading the “premium bundle” that contains a bunch of extra exclusive goodies, which just requires an email address.
It’s not the first time the duo has partnered with BitTorrent. Last year, Big Gigantic released their entire back catalog on the platform, including their album art, remixes, mixtapes, and a video recording of their Rowdytown 2015 performance at Red Rocks in Colorado.
You’ll be able to catch Big Gigantic—a live crossover electronic act who combine dancefloor sounds with instrumentation—when they perform at Nocturnal Wonderland this weekend.
