Enigmatic and influential UK veterans Massive Attack are entering somewhat of a renaissance this year. Their Ritual Spirit EP in January saw them team with a high-profile cast of rappers, and now they’ve followed that up with their new EP, The Spoils.
While the rather excellent Ritual Spirit saw core member Robert "3D" Del Naja taking the lead in the studio, this time it’s Grant "Daddy G" Marshall who’s responsible for crafting the rather moody, seductive soundscapes that feature on the new EP.
The band has shared an evocative new video for one of the EP’s songs, “Come Near Me,” starring Kosovan actress Arta Dobroshi , as well as a surprise appearance by the band’s ‘90s classic “Unfinished Sympathy” around the halfway mark.
