The pressure is on for dance music’s streaming platform of choice, SoundCloud , which finally unveiled its paid subscription service “Go” earlier this year, and monetization lingering as a huge problem for the service. It’s just announced a new “Albums” feature that appears designed to help it position better against streaming rivals like Spotify and Apple Music .
“One of SoundCloud’s early aims was to help creators share their work, track-by-track,” SoundCloud said in a blog post . “As the diversity of both our creators and listeners continues to grow, we want to give creators more ways to share and organize their work, and listeners even more ways to discover, share and interact with the massive catalog of music and audio available today on SoundCloud.”
Users can now convert any existing playlist into the Album format, paving the way for users to upload their entire back catalog for listening via SoundCloud’s paid subscription service.
