When a girl is looking for a fairy tale, it's hard to go wrong with a Vizcaya engagement session filled with gorgeous dresses and romantic, dreamy portraiture by our Fave, Alee Gleiberman Photography . Total planning bonus: the session was the perfect segue into the shipwreck theme the two chose for their destination wedding in the Dominican Republic.
Rocio and Orestes, both police officers, met at a boat show, while Orestes, his step father and Rocio's father were all working at the same company. Rocio tells us that it wasn't so much a fairy tale meeting - they were both in other relationships, and no sparks flew. But as their families began to spend more and more time together... "They began to bug us non stop about being together, it was really annoying and we actually started to really dislike each other. But with time we began to grow fond of one another and it wasn't until a family trip to The Smokey Mountains that we realized we were meant for one another, and maybe our parents were right just this once. Seven years later we are still as smitten as we became about one another in the cabin in the Smokies!"
Orestes proposed five years later, on a cruise trip he had planned with all of their immediate family and close friends. He popped the question at dinner, with "the most incredible ring", and the two celebrated the engagement with their nearest and dearest the whole week.
Rocio grew up in Miami, and has always been fascinated by Vizcaya: "It is just such a beautiful and classic place and I don't think any place in the vicinity can even compare. I knew that I wanted to have my picture taken there someday and having an engagement session there was the perfect opportunity. The venue also granted me a unique opportunity to play dress up and feel like a princess."

Having been engaged in the middle of the Caribbean, a destination wedding just seemed to fit the bill for these two; they said their I-do's two weeks ago in Punta Cana. A sunrise ceremony was followed by a sunset reception, and they celebrated the night away in what Rocio tells us was "an absolute dream come true."
