As always, I’ve added more RSS feeds to my Travel Blogs Bundle on Google Reader.  There are now 11 subscribers.  Join the fun!

Here are some of my favorite posts of the first week in August 2010:

Let’s Go Zorbing! Amanda at A Dangerous Business is a lover of all things Kiwi, and it’s no surprise that she loved zorbing!  Her incredible photos capture every moment.  I, for one, had no idea you could zorb with water in the ball, and then come out as if you were being born!

Travel Blogging Basics : Ant from Trail of Ants has put together a great post on the basics of travel blogging.  Whether you’re new to blogging or have been doing it since before the word “blog” existed (GUILTYYYY!), you’ll find plenty of value in this piece!

Nibbles That Give Me The Shivers (Or, Sh*t I Wouldn’t Eat Again) : Please don’t read this if you’ve recently eaten.  We’ve all read posts about disgusting food before — come on, you totally have! — but Dan from Uncornered Market takes it to the next level, including disgusting things the likes of which I’ve never seen.  With photos.  PLENTY of photos.

Huffington Post Travel and the Devaluation of Words : Please welcome the new blog of Spencer Spellman, The Traveling Philosopher !  This is definitely the week’s most controversial post.  With the arrival of Huffington Post Travel, an age-old debate surfaces in the travel writing sector: why does one of the world’s most prominent and profitable blogs refuse to compensate its contributors?

Don’t Shoot : I warn you, this is a very frightening story.  That said, I think that every traveler needs to read it.  Just one thing: for the love of God, don’t let your parents see it!!  Ben from Amateurs in Africa experienced corruption in Mozambique first-hand in a terrifying incident.

Enjoy the pieces and have a great week!
