Indoor Woodland Wedding at Combermere Abbey

Indoor Woodland Wedding at Combermere Abbey

Grabbing inspiration from the grounds surrounding their venue, Gareth and Hannah landed on bluebell and cornflower blue for their color palette. They wished to design their untraditional English wedding at Combermere Abbey with a large botanical influence. Along with the cool color palette, the couple added bunches of twigs and branches to the reception décor, which created a whimsical vibe perfect for this romantic wedding. Yana Photography expertly captured the happy moments the couple spent on their special day.

The Couple:

Gareth and Hannah

The Wedding:

Combermere Abbey , Whitchurch, England

The Inspiration:

We wanted a relaxed, informal feel to our wedding, so we didn’t want to go with traditional looking outfits for the groomsmen and bridesmaids. As the wedding was in early April just a week after easter, we took inspiration from nature and spring beginnings, which complemented the beautiful walled gardens of the reception venue. We ended up with a rustic botanical theme, trying to reflect the start of spring in the venue decor and the fashion. The venue’s grounds were filled with stunning bluebells in late spring when we first visited, so we used a bluebell / cornflower blue as our colour inspiration: the bridesmaids wore short, blue flowery Alice and Olivia Dresses with blue shoes, and the groomsmen wore blue suits with flowery blue ties. We tried to tie the blue into as much as possible- even the groom’s laces!

The Moments:

Gareth‘s favourite moment was watching me walk down the aisle. My favourite moment was watching all of our guests having so much fun on the packed dance floor. The dancing was crazy!

The Couple Recommends:

Photographer was wonderful. Hair and makeup artist was so talented and made the morning completely stress free for us! The Priest was our guest’s highlight of the day, he is very funny- he had the whole congregation in fits of laughter for the whole ceremony!
