“I loved Jamie and Bekah’s Palm Springs wedding! From all the fun gold DIY decor details including custom paintings for the walls of the private estate, to Bekah’s choice of a deep emerald green wedding dress – it was definitely a unique event. I think the greatest part of their wedding was the touching things that they said to each other during the ceremony – and the groom dancing! There was also literally about an hour of hilarious and heart felt speeches from their close friends and family, giving vast examples of their love for the couple. I was honored to be able to spend this wonderful day with such a wonderful couple! ” – Mike of Studio Eleven Photography
I’m absolutely obsessed with all these fab gold DIY details that the bride and her friends created. They did a wonderful job incorporating different shapes, textures and objects – which really makes your eye travel around the whole table. But I think my favorite part is the splash of light blue across the napkins! Now I’ve got the itch to spray paint something!
“It’s so hard to pick just one! Our ceremony was truly amazing and is indelibly etched in my mind. Another great moment happened about three hours before the ceremony was supposed to start. We had this idea for goody bags that we REALLY wanted to make happen but time was running out. We had all the pieces but nothing had been assembled. At that point, friends who were supposed to be back at their hotels getting ready to attend the ceremony instead came over to the wedding house to help out. They rocked those goody bags and made them happen! It was amazing to see our community come together to help us pull off something that was important to us. It was unconventional – and I’m pretty sure no one thought the ceremony would start on time – but it was the exact feeling of support that you want as you’re about jump into a new chapter of life…
..I DIY’d almost everything. All the table decor including flowers, our website, invitation, my bouquet, the goody bags, the chuppah—I could go on and on! :) And when I say “I DIY’d” I really mean “We DIY’d”—I couldn’t have done any of it without the help of 2 fantastic ladies: Ali LaBelle and Haley Weisberger . Not only are they both fantastic designers, but they are great friends and outstanding human beings. They totally got my vision and jumped right in to help me make it happen. In hindsight, I probably wouldn’t have DIY’d any less, but I might have arranged my schedule a little differently – taken some more time off of work, organized some additional help. I’m a control freak and asking for help is not something that I do easily. I was really happy with how everything turned out but there was actually quite a bit of stuff I wanted to do for which I just didn’t have time. No one missed any of those things of course but a little more breathing room would have been nice. Then again, building the chuppah with Ali and Haley outside in 40 degree temperatures the night before the wedding was actually pretty fun! We had to wear gloves and scarves!
..My sapphire engagement ring covered the old and blue and my mom loaned me a handkerchief that belonged to my great-grandmother which I tucked into my bouquet. My shoes were new and sparkly gold, obviously!
..STEP AWAY FROM THE PINTEREST! Kidding! Pinterest was actually super helpful, but I did have to remind myself to keep my expectations in check and not expect perfection. What would be the fun in that anyway? Also, I think it’s important to keep in mind that you don’t HAVE to do anything. Just because it’s what is usually done doesn’t mean you have to do it that way. I didn’t want to wear a white dress so I didn’t. All that matters at the end of the day is that you’re married. It IS important to make sure invested parties (i.e. parents) feel heard and considered so if you decide to do something a different way, make sure you take some time to let them know your thoughts behind the decision. And PICK YOUR BATTLES! Save your energy for the stuff that is most important to the two of you.” – Bekah, the bride
