One of the most important aspects of a wedding is the altar and yet, it can often go overlooked. Today, weddings are held on lush grassy hills, in gorgeous churches, and some couples even walk down an aisle of soft warm sand overlooking a picturesque ocean view. Below is a lineup of some of the most lovely ceremony backdrops we have seen! They serve as the perfect inspiration for upcoming summer weddings! These eye-catching altars and ceremony backdrops can make your special day even more exciting as guests are entranced by their beautiful bright colors and whimsical designs.
Beautiful Ribbon Backdrops
Allison Barnhill’s storybook wedding at the Governor Calvert House (a Historic Inn of Annapolis ) was made drop-dead-gorgeous with this amazing ribbon backdrop! The varying colors and lengths of ribbon create depth for this decorative piece. This backdrop is also accompanied by a beautiful array of ombre petals which create a walkway for the bride to make her way down this decorative aisle. With a pink fairytale color scheme, Allison and Tom made the perfect choice to allow the backdrop of their wedding to enhance the other bright aspects of the ceremony’s décor.
Summer Bliss Green as Grass
Beth and BJ’s Baltimore wedding demonstrates the true beauty that manifests itself in a lush, grassy ceremony. Held at the Mountain Branch Golf Club in Joppa, Maryland, the couple showcased their love under a wooden backdrop adorned with beautiful flowers and white gossimer ribbons. This backdrop perfectly accompanies the emerald hills which roll across the golf club’s property and also contribute color to the festivities! Using small pink and purple flowers allowed for the decorations to match the bridesmaids dresses and bouquets perfectly and make the ceremony a stunning event to be remembered for years to come.
Sun and Sand on a Special Day
Chelsea and Alex spent their special day under the warm rays of sunshine at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club in Stevensville, MD. This beautiful venue offers a spacious grass landing for the ceremony to be held without a hitch as well as a gorgeous beachfront view! Chelsea and Alex chose to pair a few colorful free-flowing ribbons with a lovely white latice backdrop which made their guests feel right at home. We love the neutral backdrop that white lattice allows for decorations!
A Grand Entrance
Zach and Lindsey also used a white latice backdrop to welcome their guests to their beachside wedding at Belle Isle State Park in Lancaster, VA. This nautical-themed ceremony showcased the devotion that this couple shared as their loved ones gathered on an embankment overlooking the bright blue water. Nothing allows a couple to set sail for many years filled with trust and love better than an ocean backdrop!
Birchwood Chuppahs
Most religions have their own traditions involved in the wedding ceremony. Leann and Dave celebrated their love at the Tidewater Inn in Easton, Maryland and incorporated a lot of customs which are typically seen in a traditional Jewish wedding ceremony. One of these traditions was the use of a chuppah, or a canopy which stands above the couple as they proclaim their love and devotion throughout the ceremony. The couple had small white flower petals leading up the aisle to the chuppah, which was decorated with white ribbon which matched the bride’s gorgeous white lace wedding gown. They even used bouquets of light green flowers to pull the ribbons.
Little White Church with a Burst of Color
Lauren and Michael also demonstrated their love with a Christian cermony at Calvary United Methodist Church in Annapolis, MD. The couple was able to remain true to the tenants of their faith throughout the celebration, as well as use the colorful stainglass windows of the chapel as a beautiful backdrop for their special day.
