Moby Skewers Smartphone Culture in New Video: “Are You Lost in the World Like Me?”

US dance culture veteran Moby has done a great job of re-establishing his place in the zeitgeist this year, releasing his critically acclaimed memoir Porcelain, along with musical accompaniment, proving it to be one of the most crucial music books of the year. He also recently announced the arrival of a new album, These Systems Are Failing, an effort he’s released together with his Moby & the Void Pacific Choir project, and he’s just unveiled a rather provocative video.

The name of the new single is “Are You Lost in the World Like Me?” and with the video, Moby has taken the opportunity to cast a critical eye over the role of smartphones in modern society, presenting it as something that alienates and isolates.

Recruiting the formidable skills of London animator Steve Cutts , the video provocatively depicts humanity as mindless smartphone-addicted junkies who’ve lost all sense of true human connection. Moby has endorsed it as “without question one of the best videos that's ever been made for one of my songs.”

Moby & the Void Pacific Choir’s These Systems Are Failing is available now . Watch the video for “Are You Lost in the World Like Me?” below.
