On a happier note, let me backtrack to the entire reason I was even in Tahoe!
This gorgeous gal, my best since our freshman days on the volleyball team, was tying the knot to her longtime man.
Location: Ritz-Carlton- Lake Tahoe, California
Driving up to the resort, I felt like I was entering a small scale castle nestled against the snow covered mountains in Europe. It’s a fairytale. Everything from the ambience to the staff have you in denial that you are a princess and get to be waited on hand and foot. (Being in Megan’s bridal party- they actually kinda did. Advil and extra water to the suite @ 3am? No problemo.)
Now I am not a hopeless romantic but watching Megan walk down the isle towards David, her dad and brother on either side of her, pulled at my heart strings. I was surprised at how quickly my eyes started watering and was so thankful that Selina was just as emotional standing next to me. I mentioned before that everything about the wedding and location made you feel like a princess, and Megan was having her moment as Queen. I couldn’t take my eyes off my glowing best friend. She was wearing that big perfect smile she has had since the day I met her, and radiating warmth despite the 30 degree temperatures. With over 170 friends and family, wedding planners, coordinators, make-up artists, photographers, and onlookers- time and everyone surrounding her and David just stopped.
Like most weddings (unless you’re doing Catholic Mass style) the ceremony lasted less than 20 minutes, with the final seconds sealing the deal as husband and wife. Honestly, all those close to Megan knew David was it years ago. We just had to wait a few years for the wedding. They have the kind of love and unconditional support that you can only hope for in a best friend and marriage. They have lived together and states a part, shared tremendous accomplishments and fought through the more disappointing and trying times. And still, every time I see them (which isn’t NEARLY enough) you just feel their authentic kindness, compassion, and connection growing stronger.
Not too mention they both have a loyal family and friend support who love them both beyond words. I was so honored to be standing at her side with the other beautiful bridesmaids who have impacted her life through the years.
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Berner! The wedding and (spectacular) party is over, but I’m so excited for your future adventures and lifetime together.
