With a special 909 Celebration Event due at the end of the week, the recent rumors that Roland is planning on reviving some of their most iconic music-making machines have grown deafening. We’ve now been given what’s as good as proof, with leaked photos confirming that upgraded versions of the 303 and 909 are imminent, plus Roland itself announcing that new products will be unveiled on Friday.
The leaked photos have surfaced on Germany’s Sequencer blog, which discusses everything synth-related, and it shows upgraded versions of the classic 303 and 909 machines (pictured above). The resourceful blog also unearthed photographic proof of a new Roland System-8 synth.
In addition, Roland has confirmed that its special #909day will actually represent a “24-hour online music festival” that will include “artist performances, new product debuts and interviews, spanning multiple times zones from major cities around the world.”
