With ginormous smiles plastered to their faces, Mel+Sam lived out the best day of their lives at their farm wedding! Brittany Thomas Photography captured the day for them, and shared more about the day. “When I arrived at the cherry red barn under a cloudless blue sky, everything was calm and quiet. Flowers were going into vases, the ceremony arch going up, and Melanie walked out to greet me with that same smile I remembered from the snapshot she had sent me, and she was so glamorous from the start. Tall and sunkissed and genuinely kind, Mel feels like the way I envision all California girls, although now that I think of it, I think she’s the only one I know, so that only solidifies my idea that they’re all beautiful and have gorgeous friends. The guest house at Star Bright Farm was palpably buzzing with excitement, hairspray, music and clinking champagne glasses. Melanie waved back tears every so often and I just loved the way she cared for each and every one of her bridesmaids.
When Sam arrived with his groomsmen, we were creeping up on the ceremony time and I was expecting to see his nerves creeping up with anticipation. But Sam assured me he wasn’t nervous, only excited, and after a dozen handshakes and back-pats from his guys, it was time to make it official. Just before the ceremony began, I found Sam waiting in the bottom of the barn, quietly looking over a folded sheet of paper. I didn’t think much of it, he said he was just taking a moment to take it all in, but when it was his turn to speak his promises to Melanie, I realized that he had written and memorized all his vows, word for word. After the sweetest kiss and the deepest dip, Melanie and Sam cheered and hugged their way back up the aisle – one of my favorite parts of every wedding!
One of the best parts of Melanie and Sam’s wedding was seeing how much they stopped to enjoy it. They hugged everyone, they couldn’t stop kissing, they were so joyful and stress-free and their happiness was contagious. Zeffert&Gold had us eating salmon with caramelized onions, brisket with bright green, garlicky chimmichurri and there was an ice cream sundae bar with a bowl of hot fudge big enough to swim in. So after the toasts were given and the sprinkle-dipped cake was cut, the music blasted out of the barn and Sam twirled Melanie around while their friends and family cheered and it was just such a lovely, lovely day.”
