From OFD Consulting:
For Jill and Tom, it all started in the Nation’s Capital, when they each spent a summer interning in Washington, D.C. While traipsing around Georgetown with a group of friends, Tom and Jill started talking…and never stopped. They started dating upon their arrival back to University of Michigan, but it was clear that Georgetown held a special spot in their hearts. It is, in fact, where Tom asked her to be his bride!
Rather than focusing on details, Jill and Tom were more inspired by the overall vibe that they wanted their guests to enjoy on the big day. Between a surprise 90s cover band and a bellini bar, their wedding truly was one that guests will remember for years to come!
Initially, the pair couldn’t decide between sharing handwritten vows and sticking to traditional vows. Instead of choosing, they ended up incorporating both! After sharing their personal vows during their private first look, the ceremony was extra meaningful for the couple as they exchanged the traditional vows that their parents and grandparents used.
For these two, the planning process wasn’t the easiest – but love prevails! After two years of planning their dream Baltimore wedding, everything had to be changed and moved at the last minute due to a citywide curfew imposed a few days before their big day. “Keeping some perspective on what was really important was key,” Jill explained. “In that same vein, get a wedding planner!”
Tom also promises that the planning process brings couples together. “It led to many discussions about everything,” he shared. “We became a lot closer just through the process of figuring out the wedding!”
