One of my favorite products from summer Outdoor Retailer and Interbike was Thule's new Round Trip Transition bike box. For Fall '14, Thule has expanded their Round Trip collection to include a line of extremely stylish and functional ski and snowboard bags.
When you fly with a ski or snowboard bag, most of the time you stuff it full with as much gear as possible. To help keep you a little more organized, Thule designed in a bunch of internal stuff sacks that not only hold your clothing, but serve double duty by protecting your equipment at the same time.
The Round Trip Ski and Snowboard Carriers are made from a waterproof, durable, and rip-resistant tarpaulin material with extra thick padding at the tip and tail of the bag. Inside, padded cinch-top sleeves slide over ski or snowboard tips for extra protection and keep your other gear safe from sharp edges.
An internal compartment separates and protects your ski poles from your skis and other gear. External compression straps cinch down to keep everything in place, while a removable cushioned shoulder strap and multiple grab handles make for easy transport. For those that want extra security when they fly, lockable zippers are sold as an accessory.
The Single Ski Carrier ($129.95) fits one pair of alpine skis or two pairs of Nordic skis up to 190cm in length along with poles. The Snowboard Carrier ($129.95) fits one snowboard up to 165cm in length.
The Multi-Snowsport Roller ($249.95) fits 2 pairs of alpine skis up to 190cm in length with poles or two snowboards plus boots. Built in loops for connecting the Boot Backpack and integrated wheels make for easier transport with a heavier load. A removable pole storage system secures your ski or GoPro poles inside, while a padded divider separates your skis to keep them from bashing into each other.
The new Thule ski and snowboard bags will be available starting August 2014.
