We adore this quaint Emory Grove wedding from Susie & Becky ! “Elizabeth+John’s wedding was lovely – everything they put together was full of charm, personality, history (they both love history!), and – well – just a LOT of pretty things. Every detail centered around their venue, Emory Grove in Glyndon, MD. The venue was built before the Civil War. After the war, in an attempt to bring reconciliation to the nation, Emory Grove held revival meetings in the very area where Elizabeth and John were actually married. Comprised of many acres of untampered woodland, the retreat features a three-story hotel, and several paths connecting dozens of rustic cottages together. Elizabeth spent all of her childhood summers at Emory Grove, and like most “Grovers”, learned to ride her bike on these paths as a child. So, Emory Grove has a connection to Elizabeth’s past. However, it also is connected to her future with John. They inherited a cottage from Elizabeth’s grandfather and hope to raise their family spending summers at Emory Grove, teaching their kids to ride bikes on those same historic paths. Everything about this wedding was a visible connection between the past and future.”
