Kayakers' encounter with orcas videotaped via drone

The use of mountable cameras has, for the past few years, altered the way we look at personal achievements and our surroundings.

More recently, drones are taking this phenomenon to a new level, as shown in the accompanying footage of killer whales swimming around kayakers off Andøya, Norway.

It lends a unique aerial perspective of two orcas that seem to show a curious interest in the kayaker wearing a yellow jacket (especially at the 1:16 mark).

The footage, uploaded by Ole Morten Roa, was captured using a GoPro and quadcopter.

Another recent example of drone photography is a shoot of the world-famous and extremely crowded Banzai Pipeline , by Eric Sterman, using a GoPro and DJI Phantom quadcopter.

Because drones are becoming more accessible, and because they're cheaper and more practical in many cases than helicopters, we can expect many more aerial video projects in the coming years.
