Their paths crossed in New York City as he was leaving for Florida after completing school and she had just left Florida to begin school in the city. They were asked to partake in "the boot game" that night at a bar and that was that. They started dating despite the distance.
Since meeting they've lived in 4 cities and have flown 24 times back and forth to make their long-distance relationship work. They chose to get married in the sunshine state and searched for a place that was naturally beautiful and on the intracoastal. Lauren says the Lauderdale Yacht Club reminded her of her hometown on Lake Michigan. The venue also incorporated what they love about Florida, like boating and outdoor activities, so their nautical theme was easy to create.
Lauren collected oyster shells from a nearyby seafood restaurant to use as decor and guests were treated with local Kilwin's chocolates upon arrival. Miniature burgee flag escort cards, modern lanterns and rope balls were present in the design, as well. And no nautical wedding is complete without a navy and white color palette. We like how they added a splash of coral in the flowers and modern patterns with the runners and guys' neck ties, too.
To honor their introduction, guests were asked to sign two glass boots just like the ones they drank from during the bar game when they met. Everyone was treated to a selection of desserts including cookies, cupcakes, key lime tarts, and mini cheesecakes. Gorgeous string lights lit up the outdoor dance space where guests partied all night long. Their loved ones traveled from all over the country to join in the festivities and that is Lauren's favorite memory from the whole night: I was so happy being surrounded by all my favorite people.
Continuing their nautical journey, the two visited the Almalfi Coast for their Italian honeymoon. Cheers to a beautiful and well-traveled life together!
