Tampa natives Spenser and Kerry met in high school at the age of 14, bonding over a shared love of The Office. Ten years later, they became husband and wife on a summer day at The Lange Farm filled with personal, heartfelt touches... and a spot of rain, of course! These two embraced the day, and Catherine Ann Photography ran right along with them to document every moment.
The couple loved the farm's "beautiful Old Florida vibe", falling for the huge trees, green fields and casual-yet-elegant outdoor feel.
Kerry wore the same necklace her mother wore on her own wedding day, as well as a modified version of her gown; removing the high collar and puffy sleeves resulted in a beautiful gown the bride loved. Wanting her bridesmaids to express their own personal styles, she asked them to wear a peachy-pink dress of their choice.
The plan for an outdoor ceremony under a huge oak tree was, as often happens here in the sunshine state, thwarted due to a rain shower. The moved the ceremony inside the garden house and the couple took it in stride, having an intimate ceremony with their family and friends surrounding them. Says Kerry, "It was so special to be literally surrounded by so much love. I wouldn't have changed a thing!" Two of their favorite moments of the day were from the ceremony: a sweet moment with her father on the porch right before the ceremony, and also when their pastor asked them to take a turn around to look at all of their guests surrounding them.
After the ceremony, and once the rain had ended, they moved back outside for portraits... but nature had another little wedding day surprise for them: "Out of NOWHERE the rain started coming down in sheets. We were far from our umbrellas so we started running! I just remember screaming and laughing so hard while we were getting soaked. We were so happy to be married that nothing could put a damper on it! Our photographer, Katie was running backwards in front of us and managed to snap our absolute favorite wedding photo. She's the best!"
“Spenser is the perfect compliment for my soul. I tend to overthink things and worry and plan ahead and he is more of a spontaneous, fun-loving dreamer. He lightens me up and brings so much joy to my life. I've learned to let go of things I can't control and to dream big. Life together is so much fun!”
Kerry is in the nutrition field (and is a lover of citrus) so a lemon and lime accented, pink and white palette seemed like the perfect choice for their colorful, bright summer wedding. The reception was filled with personal touches and contributions from friends and family - even the cake, which was baked by an uncle as a gift. They also chose a menu with a Cuban and tropical influence as a nod to their Floridian heritage.
It looked like the party was an absolute blast, as well! Congratulations, you two!
