Malaysia and Singapore Open Terminals for Budget Airlines

If you needed a sign that low-cost airlines were here to stay in Asia,  Singapore just opened a terminal dedicated to budget airlines at its (wonderful) Changi Airport. This follows closely on the heels of Malaysia opening it’s own no-frills airline terminal first in Kuala Lumpur.

Right now the terminals just serve AirAsia and Tiger Airways, but others will surely join them in short order.

The Singapore one is definitely preferable though. While the Malaysia one is 20 kms from the regular terminal, Singapore’s is connected by shuttle bus to the best airport in the world. And as at the main terminal, local phone calls and Internet access are F R E E! And departure charges are only $13–a deal this day and age. No pretentions of grandness here–check out the big sign in the picture.
