As a celebration of a union that was 13 years in the making, today's wedding is filled to the brim with both beautiful and meaningful moments, each one captured to perfection by our Fave Becca Borge Photography . Nicole and Anthony chose Villa Woodbine so that they could be wed outdoors, surrounded by nature, in a space that showcased their shared vintage, rustic and organic style.
The two met freshman year of high school in Boca Raton, and slowly got to know each other before they began dating the following year. They kept their relationship going even as they went to separate colleges - he to Emory in Atlanta, and she to UF - and made it through another long year as she started law school in Boston and he worked in finance in New York City. In an attempt to finally be in one city together, Nicole transferred to a law school in NYC just as the financial downturn hit, and Anthony was transferred to Texas. Nicole followed him there after her graduation and passing the bar; after two more years together there, they came back to NYC (where they live today) and were finally engaged... 13 years after they first started dating!
“It's incredible to know someone over the course of 14 years and watch them go through various stages of life. We have inside jokes that go back many years, we laugh together constantly, and we know how to read one another in different situations. We've always relied on one another and supported each other, which is so important in a relationship.”
The two wed at Plymouth Congregational Church, the same church that Nicole's parents were married in 32 years prior.
Anthony wore his late father's vintage watch and cuff links, and gifted his groomsmen with embroidered pocket squares with their initials in various shades of grey and black. Nicole chose a stunning fitted Lazaro gown with a long train, matching it with a vintage-style veil and gold BHLDN headpiece. She finished off her look with her mother's gold diamond necklace and earrings, and gold Jimmy Choo platform heels.
Describing their style as vintage, rustic, simple and clean, Nicole tells us that Villa Woodbine in Coconut Grove was the perfect fit for the romantic outdoor wedding they were looking for. They wanted the venue to speak for itself: "We didn't overwhelm the decor with color or accents. Simplicity was our guide, as we chose a mild color palette and gold enhancements."
The table numbers were handmade whitewashed wood with gold calligraphy, and their cake stand was a hinged reclaimed wood box, which the couple now uses to hold mementos from the wedding day.
There were so many things that contributed to our day being so special, but overall it was the fact that we were able to invite our closest friends from high school to share in the big event. It is really incredible to have people there that knew us when we first started dating at 16 years old and to watch us get married nearly 14 years later. Of course, having our parents and close family there to celebrate with us meant the world to us as well.
