The Mutoid Waste Company is a performance art group with roots in the UK rave scene and an agenda of bringing to life the post-apocalyptic landscapes of Mad Max.

Forming in the early ‘80s and specializing in throwing illegal parties in London, they’re known for populating their installations with rusted, burned-out cars and giant, welded sculptures constructed of scrap waste. To this day, they’re creating wasted landscapes at music festivals across the UK, like Glastonbury , though these documentaries travel back to the group’s early days.

A two-part documentary has surfaced on YouTube. It’s a proper rave legacy, detailing the Mutoid Waste Company’s early excursions in collecting waste and constructing twisted landscapes, and speaking to the different members of the collective in their early years. We were able to embed part two of the documentary here, but you’ll have to go to YouTube to watch part one .
