How did you find your photographer?
“Patty ( Petula Pea Photography ) was referred to us by one of the wedding coordinators for our venue. We had originally signed a contract with a different photographer but after looking at the photos from our engagement session, we realized we hired the wrong person. We wanted a re-do of our engagement photos and someone we could trust to capture our wedding day. We wanted someone that was passionate about their work and we found that in Patty. She wanted to make things right for us and offered a lot of guidance leading up to the engagement session, something we hadn’t had with the other photographer. She made this session very enjoyable and we felt very comfortable around her…
What are you DIY-ing for your wedding?
..We like telling the story of how we met and we are incorporating that to a couple of details. Since our creativity is minimal, we have enlisted the help of one of my bridesmaids. She is Ms. DIY! She designed a sign that says “It all began with a drink at (the bar we met)” to display on our sign-in table. The aforementioned drink is the Moscow Mule and that will be our only signature cocktail. Ms.DIY also designed other signage that we will display on our candy table and bar. She is working on putting together picture frames that we will use to display photos of our parents and grandparents on their wedding day. She is also making a gift-card box to complement our urban theme since it was impossible to find something online that I really liked. The latest project is creating the décor for the sweetheart table. Since we are having a candy table my future mother-in-law insisted on making her famous wedding cookies to add to the goodies. My future MIL also helped me with my mom’s gift: preserving a letter my grandpa wrote her on her wedding day almost 32 years ago. I’ve had the letter for a long time after finding it in a junk drawer and I thought it deserved a place of honor. I cannot wait for my mom to see it!
What are you looking forward to the most?
..This is a tough one for me. I am looking forward to two things: the first look and the ceremony. I cannot wait for Tony to see me in my dress for the first time and to have a peaceful moment to take it all in, together. I’m looking forward to all parts of our ceremony. From the moment when my dad sees me in my dress for the first time, walks me down the aisle, to when Tony and I exchange vows. I have some relatives that are flying in from Mexico City and part of the ceremony will be in Spanish to honor them and my heritage. Our officiant is a very good friend of mine whose marriage is one that I have always admired. My best friend from high school is going to translate the ceremony. Together, we have worked on the ceremony and I cannot wait to see it all come together!” – Danael, the bride-to-be
