DIY Wedding | Daniel + Caroline

“This couple is nothing but pure love. Very easily upon meeting them we could sense the chemistry that unites them to one another. Caroline is a wedding photographer as well… so it was with lots of excitement and some extra stress that we arrived at the family’s duplex where the couple was preparing, one on the first floor, the other on the second. The stress factor disappeared as soon as we arrived. These people are so kind, warm and simple, we felt no pressure. Only the joy of a big family reunion. And yes, they did make us feel like we were family.

Once they were done getting ready, the couple met downstairs in the backyard. Daniel had his back turned and was anxiously awaiting his bride. When Caroline came out to meet him, there was not a dry eye among the bridal party and the families. This moment was one of the greatest of the day. It seemed as though they both wanted it to last forever. And imagine, this was only the beginning of their beautiful day!” – Bonnallie Brodeur Photographe

“Although I’d be tempted to say it was the entire day because it was magical. The ceremony was a particular high point. It was celebrated at the Chapelle Notre-Dame du Sacré-Coeur in Old Montreal. The chapel itself is so majestic and all the closest people to me were there to celebrate this important moment. It was a strongly emotional experience…

..Yes, I actually did DIY a few details! I’m a professional photographer so I did the invitations by myself, and my dad helped me too. I prepared tiny bubble blowers for the guests with lace and ”vieux rose” ribbon. I also made our wedding programs so people could follow along during the ceremony. Also made our guestbook, mason jar tinted to make them look vintage for the flowers, wooden hearts on which we painted the table numbers, the favor decoration and the favors themselves (homemade strawberries jam), card box for our guest’s best wishes, menu design, cake pops box with a pearl lining, a cupcakes display tray made out of a chandelier and a plate that I painted and a vintage window to display the guest’s tables. I also prepared, with the precious help of my friend Katheryne Roux-Groleau, all the floral arrangements. She was amazing and incredibly helpful for the planning of the entire wedding…

..My something old and borrowed were my earrings belonging to my grandmother, my something new was my beautiful ”vieux rose” shoes and my something blue was under my dress ;-)

..Prepare a planning binder and make the projects that you can in advance if possible to save your time and hassle.” – Caroline, the bride
