“The white dress, with all its inherent grace and beauty, has been inextricably tied to a young woman’s thoughts of love and marriage. In this literary- and cinematic-influenced style shoot, photographers Lisa Anderson and Ann Nguyen explore the complex emotions and subconscious desires associated with wearing the gown – the loss of aspects of one’s independence and the ongoing work of love…
Set against the shores of San Pedro, the stark landscape provides the perfect topographic palette on which to explore love’s gravity. The talented Audrey Gallagher provided gorgeous hair and makeup that collaborated with the natural elements – moving with the wind and reflecting the last rays of the sun. Models, Gaby and Carly (a Long Beach wedding coordinator and newlywed), took expressive cues from Werner Herzog’s “Pina” to heighten the shoot’s soulful mood. Playing in the shifting light of the golden hour, Ann & Lisa had T. S. Elliot’s “Wasteland” in mind as they utilized film & digital photography, light play, double exposure, and motion blur to create a surreal vision of a woman’s experience as she spends her last moments before promising herself to her lover.” – Spark + Tumble Photography
