The heads lucky enough to have secured a trip to next week’s Amsterdam Dance Event are likely having a tough time controlling their eagerness at this very moment. It is, after all, one of the key calendar dates in the electronic music world, as the conference and clubbing spree combo attracts thousands of artists and an in-the-industry crowd for five days’ worth of unbounded events, professional huddles, and more handshaking than your phalanges can handle.
Insomniac Records makes matters worse by taking the excitement up a notch with their carefully curated ADE 2016 compilation, which today hits those digital shelves. In it are 15 standout contributions from a gang of producers who don’t play around, including BOT, Sinden, Walker & Royce, Sluggers and more. We hit up a few of them to get their thoughts on their own bits.
“‘Pull It’ is a bass-heavy track that incorporates a rolling 808 bassline and big horn, some irie rasta vocals, and a crazy synth sound,” Worthy tells us. “I see it as more of a late-night track, since it’s super heady—it just builds the entire way through. It’s the kind of track that I love playing later in my sets, because people just vibe out."
“I wanted to take the track into a distinctly new and impassioned tech house vibe, where the groove has a palpable presence you can really feel,” says Mike Vale, “heightening the intimacy, embedded within a warm and seductive, steady, memorable hook which sticks in your head.”
“‘Wonder Why’ was a chance to explore a different tone to my usual production style and use organic sounds that could almost be performed live,” Après explains to Insomniac. “Lolé and I got together in the studio, and within half an hour, we had the topline written and recorded, so the whole process felt completely natural and unforced.”
The album is the perfect primer to get you on the right pace for ADE next week, so go ahead and rinse the life out of it after the jump.
