Fabric London Embarks on Campaign to Save One of the World’s Best Clubs

The doors of UK underground stronghold Fabric London have been shut for several weekends now, following the news the club would close indefinitely while the local council investigates recent deaths. Leading to an outpouring of support from the DJ elite, plus an eventual signal of support from London Mayor Sadiq Khan , the future of the club remains under threat with news it has launched a petition to rally support ahead of the upcoming license review.

“On the 6th of September, fabric could be closed forever when their licence is reviewed by Islington Borough Council… Let’s ask them to back fabric’s future and the rest of our city’s clubs as icons of London’s incredible music scene and pledge to work together with him to make our clubs safer while also protecting our night time economy.”

The petition follows an unprecedentedly scathing attack earlier this week from club resident Howie B , who accused the council and police of hijacking the tragedy to seek retribution against the club, and “using sledgehammer tactics and perverse use of licensing law” to unfairly hold the club responsible for occurrences out of their control.

“I have been going to fabric since the day it opened. I have DJ’d and I know the organisation inside out… Almost everyone involved with fabric, or knows anything about the organisation or industry knew this was coming from the moment that they won the licensing review last December. The judge at that hearing was so embarrassingly critical of police that everyone suspected revenge action would follow swiftly.”

Elsewhere, the world’s DJ elite have again lined up in support of Fabric.
