Mesmerize Yourself in the Audio, Visual, Light and Laser Installation That Is Deep Web

Last month, we examined some of the spectacular audiovisual performances featured in this year’s edition of the Berlin Atonal Festival , which showcases some of the best in experimental electronic music every year. Today, thanks to the CDM art and music blog, we’ve stumbled across a similar installation that’s one of the best you will ever see.

Known as Deep Web , the installation was commissioned for the Festival of Lights —set to take place in Lyon, France, in December—and was previewed at the CTM Festival in Berlin earlier this year. It’s the result of a collaboration between light artist Christopher Bauder and composer Robert Henke , the latter of whom is otherwise known to the techno world as Monolake .

Described as “a ballet of iridescent kinetic light and surround sound,” it weaves together 175 motorized spheres and 12 high-power laser systems into a super-size structure that’s 25 meters wide and 10 meters high.
