It all emerged from the dreams of a Lithuanian second-year industrial design student and her secret desire to fuse the world of high-quality speakers with… concrete. What became of this dream is the mighty CONCRETUS , a wireless Bluetooth speaker made from concrete and inspired by the functional design of the gritty tetrapod structures that prevent coastal erosion.
“The contrast between natural, coincidental, rough concrete textures and sleek, metal surfaces gives the speaker a unique look, changing the usual speaker appearance,” Gražina Bočkutė explains. “The user can easily control the speaker through Bluetooth wireless technology. It blends with the interior and delivers the user new audio experiences.”
While Bočkutė concedes that the formidable CONRETUS is still only in prototype form, she’s currently searching for sound specialists, physicists, and so forth to develop it into an actual consumer speaker.
