Do you have a taste for those rather iconic “boombox” stereos that people used to hoist on their shoulders in the ‘80s and blast music through the neighborhood? A man from New Zealand has a collection of more than 400 of them, and he’s putting them up for sale.
“When I was a kid, I used to stare goggle-eyed into shop windows, wanting them. They were a real statement of ‘80s culture,” Craig Kenton told Stuff .
Kenton was a teenager during the ‘80s and started collecting boomboxes toward the end of the decade. He tells Stuff that the more he looked for them, “the more out of control it got.”
“Retro is very cool right now; we’ve seen a resurgence in sales for hard-copy books and vinyl records. Hopefully, this seller finds another passionate collector or a buyer who prefers their tunes old-school.’
