If you consider yourself a vinyl enthusiast, this is an opportunity you won’t want to miss. DJ Shadow is not only one of America’s most heralded experimental electronica and hip-hop pioneers; he’s also up there with its most elite turntable technicians. This week, he’ll be allowing a rare chance to dig into the rarities from his private collection.
Taking place at L.A.’s Rappcats record store this Saturday and Sunday, the First Annual DJ Shadow Storage Sale will offer buyers the chance to get their hands on hundreds of used vinyl LPs, 45s, and 12″s taken from Shadow’s private collection, plus rare stock from the DJ Shadow webstore that’s no longer available, a wealth of other collectibles that includes 8-tracks, cassettes, posters and more.
In addition, we’ve been promised the actual presence of DJ Shadow, who will be available to sign records, talk rarities, and just generally shoot the shit.
The reason for the sale? Rather than offloading his entire beloved collection, Shadow will be selling off an assortment of duplicates he’s amassed over the years.
“This is a chance for producers, dealers, and DJs to access seldom-seen and eclectic vinyl at affordable prices,” says Shadow. “These are all records I have other copies of, and I’ve decided that I don’t need to keep multiples. Think of it as a year-long thrift-store hunt consolidated into two days.”
The First Annual DJ Shadow Storage Sale takes placeSeptember 10–11 from noon–6pm. Find out more over at the Rappcats website .
