The cybernetic future depicted in The Terminator might well be just around the corner. The Phantom Power is the brainchild of ITP Tisch School of the Arts student Yingjie Bei and the result of his personal vision to design technology that is “emotional and tangible.” Its purpose? It’s an exoskeleton analog synthesizer that can be performed in a live setting.
Designed as an interface between man and machine, Phantom Power is performed as an instrument using hand gestures, as well as with screwdrivers that manipulate the circuit.
