Last month, we received news of an exciting new example of DJing tech that could potentially be a game changer. Designed by Roland in collaboration with Serato , the new DJ-808 is a tech-infused mixer that seeks to integrate live producing with digital DJing.
Fusing Serato’s DJ mixing software with Roland’s iconic hardware, the coolest thing about the DJ-808 is that in addition to standard mixing functionality, it also offers users the sounds of the 606, 707, 808 and 909 machines, which can be used both in a live setting as well as in the studio. Thanks to hardware blog DJ TechTools , we’ve got out first proper look.
Noting that the concept of an all-in-one digital DJ controller has been around for about a decade, DJ TechTools claims “the level of innovation we’ve seen on recent releases has started to dwindle. With their new DJ-808 controller, Roland and Serato are aiming to be the exception to that.”
