One new technology I am excited to check out at the OutDoor Show in Friedrichshafen tomorrow is the new mtnGLO illumination system from Big Agnes. Included in multiple tents and accessories, this new integrated lighting technology brings a whole new level of functionality to outdoor gear.
A supposed lightweight solution with minimal cost increases, the patent pending technology in the Big Agnes mtnGLO Collection features light emitting diodes (LEDs) integrated directly into the construction of a tent. Simply flip a switch to turn on the lights, much as you would in your bedroom at home.
For mtnGLO, Big Agnes teamed up with Joey Energy, the same company that Timbuk2 works with for their Power Series collection of bags and The North Face for their Charged backpack series . Featuring the Joey T55 computerized power supply to power the LEDs, the complete Big Agnes mtnGLO collection includes a variety of tents ranging from ultralight backpacking to car and base camping models, an accessory tent lighting kit, and a durable case designed for tablets and other electronic devices.
The Joey T55 is designed with rugged electronics and a tough, water-resistant case. It can be charged via wall outlets or USB ports and provides high-speed charging for most electronic devices. The LED lighting technology easily turns on and off with the flick of a switch, so you no longer have to fumble for a headlamp or flashlight as soon as it gets dark.
Stay tuned for more details from the show.
