Aphex Twin might be known as a producer in the running for the “most important electronic artist of all time,” but he nonetheless remains largely an enigma, with live performances from the experimental veteran rare to the point of being priceless. In fact, it’s been nearly a decade since he stepped on US soil for a live performance, but that’s about to change.
Billboard broke the news this week that Aphex Twin is confirmed to play Houston's Day for Night festival during the two-day event on December 17 and 18, with the producer himself sharing a cryptic image referencing the upcoming show.
“We can indeed confirm Aphex Twin is performing at Day for Night,” festival producer Omar Afra told Billboard. “This is the second moon landing for Houston.”
The news is sure to send Aphex fans into a frothing frenzy at the prospect of a wider US tour from Aphew Twin. While a rep confirmed to Pitchfork there is no immediate plans, it doesn’t mean we can’t all live in hope.
