DIY Wedding | Paul + Natalie

Usually you hear from the photographer or wedding coordinator about our weddings (I love to share personal narratives about our features being that they mean so much more than anything I’d come up with) and so for this event, I was actually the day-of coordinator! Not usually my job but obviously something I’m extremely passionate about and when I had the pleasure of meeting Natalie who is a friend of a friend, I knew I’d love to be involved. She had so many wonderful DIY ideas for her wedding and she was desperately looking for someone special to help execute her handmade vision on the actual day… things worked out perfectly and I was happy to help. She created and dreamed up everything you will see below, I was just there to set it all up for her :-). The ceremony was held at the stunning Founders Park in Palos Verdes, CA, overlooking the ocean on a strikingly hot and clear day in September. The reception was nestled inside a large tent outside of the grooms family restaurant called Think Cafe which had the dance floor inside and the bar outside on the patio. Their nautical wedding vision was pulled together with crisp white and navy blue details, anchors and seashells, and loads of killer DIY. Read Natalie’s interview below to hear all about her projects! Happy Wedding Wednesday! – xoxo, Jen

What is your favorite wedding day memory?

I have a lot of great memories from my wedding but my absolute favorite was towards the end of the night, our photographers pulled Paul and I away from the reception to take a few photos at the fountains down the street. This was a precious moment for the two of us because we, now husband and wife, got a chance to really absorb and appreciate all of our blessings we experienced throughout the day.

What did you DIY for your wedding?

So much stuff! The string art seating chart, the labels on the mason jar favors, the “cork book” guest book, candles in mason jars on the tables, photos in leaf frames and the head table decor, Mr and Mrs sign, giant balloons for the ceremony, ceremony bubbles basket, the wine box we sealed during our ceremony, our vows, the cheers sign for the bar, gift bags for the wedding party, robes with the bridesmaids initials in sparkly letters, jewelry for the bridesmaids, and the wine bottle table numbers (which were free downloads from Something Turquoise !).

Something old, new, borrowed and blue?

Yes. Old and borrowed was my veil. New: my jewelry. Blue was my garter.

Any advice for brides currently in the planning process?

Stay organized, calm and always say thank you. No matter what happens the day of, remember that everything will happen the way it was meant to. You have to laugh off the things that don’t go your way because at the end of the day what really matters is that you are marrying the love of your life! – Natalie, the bride
