Matt proposed to Emily at Westwood, a gorgeous historic home in Knoxville, Tennessee. Historic Westwood was built as a “wedding promise” in 1890 by John Edwin Lutz and his wife, Ann Adelia Armstrong Lutz. Proposal story by told by Erin Morrison

“I don’t know who was more nervous — myself or Matt. I’m pretty sure Matt was, but my heart was jumping our to my chest. Matt was proposing to his girlfriend at Historic Westwood Knoxville and awesomeness was about to happen! Matt and Emily met as friends at Freshman Orientation at The University of Tennessee. Their friendship soon turned into a relationship after their first date at Cafe 4 in downtown Knoxville. That was over 4 years ago.

Emily (an Architect major), and Matt (a Nursing major), drive by Historic Westwood nearly every day on their way into campus. Emily has always had an interest in the home, which was built as a “wedding promise” in 1980 by John Edwin Lutz and his wife, Ann Adelia Armstrong. So, Matt was going to surprise Emily at this home that we built as a wedding promise (awesome) on a really neat December date, 12.13.14 (more awesomeness).

Emily pretty much knew what was going to happen when she entered the final room on the tour: the art studio. Me, myself, and my camera were patiently waiting for their arrival, and the opportunity to capture a really special moment. Matt, read a couple of words to his soon-to-be fiancé, and got down on one knee for the proposal. She, or course, said “yes!” After the proposal, we took our own little tour around Historic Westwood Knoxville, and ventured down the historic hallways, staircase with the stained glass windows, and even ventured outside to the porch and the front lawn for some amazing sunset photos. The couple ended their night at Knox Mason, where family and friends were waiting their arrival!”
