“This wedding was nothing short of amazing! Everyone worked so hard to bring all of the details together. The wedding took place out at the beautiful Shaw family farm at the base of the Blue Mountains in rural Eastern Oregon. We were threatened with storms all day, but the weather ended up cooperating and it was just gorgeous. The wedding was very laid back, with music performed by a hip local band – J.D. Kindle and The Eastern Oregon Playboys. They kept the barn dance rockin’ all night long! There was also a big fire pit and smore kit’s for everyone to enjoy while the adults sipped on home-made hard cider made by the best man. I was so happy to be a part of this couples amazing day.” – Captured By Corrin

“It was funny to actually sit down and have this conversation with my husband because we both had different ideas about what made our wedding day so special. One thing that I will never forget is the feeling I got when I was standing up in front of all of our family and friends during the speech portion of our wedding. I was so overcome with happiness and appreciation that we both had so many people that cared enough about us to make sure that they were able to celebrate our first day as husband and wife. It was the one time in the day where I could really not keep myself composed. Another thing that I really enjoyed was the reception. We were fortunate enough to have wonderful food, drinks, and dessert, all from local vendors and friends. My husband loved the antique beer truck, juicy steak, delicious cupcakes, and lively reception music provided by James Dean Kindle and the Eastern Oregon Playboys. All of our guests seemed to really enjoy the atmosphere and the reception as a whole. The entire day will definitely be one that we think about fondly for the rest of our lives!

..Our ENTIRE wedding was a do-it-yourself event!!! My mother and a few of her friends created the lovely wooden signs that were used as informative decorations. The rest of the table decorations, ceremony arch, barn decor, and other outside decorations were re-purposed furniture items from various family members and friends as well as fall decorations from our home. The wedding favors were s’mores kits that were used with the fire pit. They were created by my mother-sister-and grandmother- in law. Our decorations were inspired by the fall season and of course Pinterest. The majority of our alcohol and sparkling apple cider was home-brewed by the best man. It was very tasty and helped us save a large chunk of money. Our goal was to have a beautiful, rustic yet classy country wedding. We did not want to spend a fortune so we did as much borrowing and scrounging to find the right items for a good price. We were lucky to have so many individuals that wanted to help make our wedding day the best day that it could be.

..I did not originally plan to have all of these items, but a few just occurred with my natural wedding day outfit choices. My something old was the diamond necklace that I wore. This specific piece of jewelry was gifted to me by my mother on the day of my high school graduation. It was originally created from older family diamonds as a high school graduation gift to her from her grandparents. It was something that was so classy and it perfectly complimented my dress. My something new was my garter from Heritage Bride and, of course, my wedding dress from David’s Bridal. Finally, I did have something turquoise, not blue. My turquoise item was a pair of well-loved Ariat cowboy boots. These boots were a natural choice given the location of our wedding was a barn in Eastern Oregon. My maid of honor and bridesmaids all had silver and turquoise earrings and various other pieces of turquoise jewelry to complete the look…

When you get married so many people want to give you advice and here is some of mine:

1. Make a budget and stick to it! Look into local vendors and family friends to try and find the best deal possible.

2. Make sure that you find a person that will be in charge of all of the little details on your wedding day. Preferably, the person you pick will not be an immediate family member. My go to person was my mother and while she did an excellent job, I think that the day would have been more enjoyable for her if she would have been able to give the reigns to someone else that day.

3. Remember that there will always be snags in your plans, so just relax! On our wedding day the weather was supposed to be awful, our desserts were delivered a little later than expected, and a clasp broke on my dress. All of those things could have really stressed me out but I had decided beforehand that no matter what happened that I would make sure to enjoy my big day and shake off the small stuff.

4. Enjoy every minute of it because it will only happen once! This day is about the union between you and your significant other and nothing else. ” – McKennon, the bride
