We love original and fresh ideas for wedding decor and this wedding is our new obsession. An ultra chic book themed wedding photographed by Photo Philosophies , shows us that we need to step out of the box and incorporate more things we love into our wedding decor. Take a look at Marissa and Alysa’s gorgeous Brooklyn wedding!
Marissa proposed to Alysa on Easter after an egg hunt. She hand painted eggs (one with a secret message inside!) and put them in a basket. When Alysa opened the egg she read the message: “Will you marry me?” Now that is a great present from the Easter bunny if you ask us!
Alysa planned a proposal after the book theme had been decided on and incorporated it into the engagement. She laid paper flowers on a table with a book that had “Marry Me?” cut into it and a Harry Potter book with the center cut out, holding the ring. Very crafty, ladies! We love it!
Marissa wore a beautiful BHLDN gown with a birdcage veil and gold Enzo Angiolini pumps for a timeless and glamorous look. She accessorized with her grandmother’s opera length pearl necklace, which she wrapped into a bracelet! Alysa opted for a great grey suit by J. Crew with RSVP heels and a Daniel Wellington watch.
Both the ceremony and reception were held at the Brooklyn Winery . To enhance the beautiful wooden details and natural light in the space, they chose organic autumn colors in their flowers and book details. We love the vibrant flowers against the dark wood of the venue.
They used small book details around the space to showcase table numbers, flower arrangements and centerpieces. ”We did work with the book/library theme, but we didn’t want it to be overboard,” said Marissa. “The Brooklyn Winery space is beautiful in itself and we wanted to showcase and compliment that.”
We love how they recycled library cards and used them as place cards. And in order to play with height variations, they stacked books under candles and vases.
Their cake was a work of art. The exposed cake mirrored the natural wooden atmosphere of the winery and was beautifully decorated with bold flowers. ”Our wedding cake was from Momofuku Milk Bar ,” said Alysa. ”It was a three tiered apple pie cheesecake cake accented with flowers used throughout the wedding (succulents, ranunculus). We also had a croquembouche of birthday cake truffles.”
