Today’s post is especially exciting for us! We so rarely get to share about the “Behind the Scenes” aspects of weddings or styled shoots so we thought we’d snag this opportunity! Last week’s incredible photo shoot by Travis Curry featured so many different upcoming bridal looks for 2014 and we wanted to share the inspiration behind each one. The crazy talented hair and makeup team at Amie Decker Beauty sat down and shared what guided their vision for every model. First, though we wanted you to meet the models! Now for the hair and make up inspiration! We’ll let Amie and Kelly of Amie Decker Beauty take it from here, “When creating the looks for this photo shoot, we wanted to put together different themes and then show variation of those themes. The four themes/looks that we pulled from were braids, traditional, boho chic, and Hollywood glam. We love to take an idea and then customize it for a bride’s own personal preference!”
“We choose to showcase two different ways to incorporate a braid that is fresh and unique. Tiffany had a braided fringe up style while Dani had a fun side pony with lots of texture from a fishtail braid woven into the hair. For the traditional looks we put our signature on what is considered to be the go-to for the modern day bride with Kana’s side chignon and Sarah’s beautifully textured up style. Hair accessories are a great way to accentuate these current styles.”
“We personally love the boho chic style on Sarah and Tiffany. We paired beautiful flowered head pieces by Crimson and Clover with very organic soft swept up hair. We are seeing a lot of soft “undone” hairstyles for this season. A trend we are noticing is that these organic loose boho styles are being paired with dramatic makeup and bold lips instead of light “barely there” makeup. Stunning right?
Finally, the Hollywood glam was represented beautifully on Kana with her luscious waves and deep part while Dani’s modern twist on an old hollywood 60’s classic bouffant is a style we hope to see a lot this year. We decided to incorporate Radiant Orchid (Pantone’s color of the year) into Dani’s eye makeup and topped it off with lots of lashes and a soft pink lip. Instead of the typical red lip for Kana’s vintage look we chose a magenta lip color to pair with her winged liner.”
