“Cat and Karl were married at Pemaquid Point Lighthouse in Maine, and the reception was held a few miles up the peninsula at their 200 year old rambling Maine farmhouse that they bought last year and have been renovating. Cat spent the relaxed morning of her wedding assembling the fresh flowers into centerpieces and bouquets. Cat thrifted all of the gorgeous teacups, and they used mint from their garden to make a big jar of mojitos.”
Sweet Words from the Bride: It was one of the best days of my life. Seriously. I can’t get over this feeling that weddings are underrated.
My absolute favorite part of the day was a moment I had when I was looking around at the reception and realized that I was only seeing the faces of people I love – wonderful people. It blew me away. My favorite part of the weekend in general was that so many of those wonderful people worked with us to make the event happen. Our wedding ended up being a real collaboration of love and talent.
Our goal of the day – aside from exchanging vows – was to throw a fun party in a beautiful setting. I wanted the event to be laid back, romantic, natural, and with a touch of adventure. (Those are things Karl and I value in our relationship in general.)
Maine is one of our favorite places on earth, and our wedding was our chance to introduce the state to so many of our friends and family. We wanted the scenery to give drama to the day – that’s why there was no additional decoration at the Pemaquid lighthouse. Just the lighthouse and Mother Nature.
It was so much fun. We had 12 people staying with us in the week and days before the wedding – and everyone was helping out and having a good time. We made food, we drank beers around the fire. I had a rule that people weren’t allowed to get stressed out – and except for a few fleeting moments, I think everyone stuck to that.
