This wedding screams NYC… AKA the cool, tough, rock and roll lifestyle that makes this city gorgeous! Katrina and David decided that instead of having an “overdone” Miami wedding, they would fly a few of their best friends to the Big Apple for a weekend of wedding festivities! Diana Garcia Photography captured this cool couple’s edgy and oh-so-fun attitude every step of the way!
Katrina wore a White by Vera Wang gown accessorized with patent leather black pumps by Aldo Shoes and stud earrings by Michael Kors . {She changed into thigh high platform pumps to travel around the city after the ceremony… smart and savvy girl!}
David rocked a three piece made-to-measure Joseph Abboud suit with a Duchamp London Tenebre Dots white tie. His groomsmen wore Hugo Boss and Calvin Klein suits…and everyone finished the look with some great shades!
Katrina and David made their own invitations and programs using a mix of urban and girly fonts, which definitely set the tone of their wedding theme! The programs were actually a personalized travel guide for the Wedding Weekend Adventure! It included tips to get around NYC, best places to visit, maps and a “who’s who” in the bridal party.
Katrina and David decided that their home town of Miami was too overdone and wanted a more simple wedding. ”We joked that for the money we would spend, we could instead take our favorite 10 people to our favorite New York City for a weekend,” said Katrina. ”Once we realized it was a fun idea, we put it in motion and made our destination wedding happen.” They chose the High Line for its balance of urban bustle and nature… and because the photos are always beautiful!
The couple chose to have a monochromatic look with black, white and grey in their wedding scheme. {Bridesmaids carried hot pink flowers for a small pop of color!} They wanted the excitement of New York City to pop in the background instead of on their outfits!
After The High Line ceremony, the group traveled around NYC by subway to Central Park and the Brooklyn Bridge for pictures and finally to Delicatessen NYC in Soho. The party went into full swing in the minibar room of the Delicatessen NYC where the house DJ created a great dance party environment for Katrina and David!
Katrina said the above photo was her favorite from the day. ”My husband and I in the window of the Standard Hotel…it captures the architecture of the Standard which we love so much as well as the sweetness of me and my husband sharing a ‘private’ moment.”
