FlyOver Canada Launches First Trailer

The first trailer for FlyOver Canada, a major new visitor attraction coming to Canada Place in Spring 2013, has been launched. The one-minute trailer offers a preview of the $16-million destination attraction, which will take guests on a breathtaking aerial adventure over Canada using the latest in virtual flight ride technology.

“The trailer gives an exciting sneak preview of the spectacular shots our filmmakers have been getting over the past eight months,” says Stephen Geddes, President of Soaring Attractions LP. “FlyOver Canada will be an awe-inspiring panoramic journey across Canada and a ton of fun for both locals and visitors.”

Guests to FlyOver Canada will first enjoy an amazing audio-visual immersive show developed by Montreal-based Moment Factory, who played a key role in Madonna’s half-time performance at the 2012 Super Bowl and Canada’s pavilion at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, China. They will then board the custom-designed ride, 60 people at a time, for a virtual flight, accompanied by state-of-the-art sound and even scents, making for a truly multi-sensory experience. The ride mechanism will move in concert with images of Canada projected on a 20-metre, half-spherical dome screen, taking guests on a one-of-a-kind voyage. The entire experience will last approximately 30 minutes.

Filming for the FlyOver Canada attraction by the award-winning Whistler-based Sherpas Cinema is almost complete. The director, Dave Mossop, has been crisscrossing Canada with the Sherpas film team capturing the country like never before. Seasonal films for Christmas and Halloween are also in development. Construction at the former IMAX theatre at Canada Place has been underway since January 2012.

FlyOver Canada is being developed, owned and operated by Soaring Attractions LP, a partnership involving two experienced Vancouver tourism entrepreneurs, Stephen Geddes and Andrew Strang, and the Aquilini Investment Group – owners of the Vancouver Canucks.
