Want to shred in your jeans this winter? Canadian company Mason Industries is riding the wave of the Urbanus Jeans craze in Korea and creating water repellent denim jeans that will keep you warm and dry all day on the mountain.
Many of the cool kids choose to wear jeans over traditional outerwear for snowboarding. The problem is that one fall in denim pretty much cuts your day short. Instead of wearing stiff, faux denim snowpants, Mason Industries founder Jason Mason decided he wanted to find a way to still ride in jeans but not get wet.
The MI Classic Rock snowboard jeans use a floating liner made from a combination of strategically placed fleece, nylon, and mesh. The liner works to regulate your body temperate and move air between your body, the liner, and the outer denim.
Oversize pockets are made from nylon and fleece, with a fleece butt panel to help keep your core warm. Since you tend to produce a ton of heat at your knees, mesh panels at the back of your knees helps expel the excess. Nylon at the front on the liner and nylon gaiters not only block wind, but keep you from getting wet where you come in contact with snow the most.
In a sweet retro 80s style, the MI Classic Rock snowboard jean cuffs are zippered for ease in putting on your snowboard boots. Inner leg zips help with venting, while hidden zipper back pockets are great for storing a room key or some cash for those apres suds.
Mason Industries has a long way to go to meet their current Kickstarter funding goal, but for $250 from the company website, you can still be one of the first to ride in the Classic Rock snow jeans this winter.
