There is plenty of hype at the moment around virtual reality (VR) and the universe of possibilities opening up now that it’s finally affordable for consumers. While gaming has been the most common application we’ve seen it used for so far, VR is now entering the world of studio production thanks to the SoundStage app, which is available in beta on the Steam platform .
SoundStage is described as a “virtual reality music sandbox built specifically for room-scale VR.” It models a full studio inside your VR headset, complete with virtual drum sets, synthesizers, samplers mixers and more.
“Whether you’re a professional DJ creating a new sound, or a hobbyist who wants to rock out on virtual drums, SoundStage gives you a diverse toolset to express yourself,” claims developer Logan Olson .
SoundStage is available now for the HTC Hive headset as an “Early-Access Game” via Steam . Watch a demonstration video for the app below.
